iOS 27 will be filled with artificial intelligence updates along with the new Siri application. However, according to a recent Bloomberg report, iOS 27 may also update the iPhone's keyboard with a new autocorrect feature.
The iPhone's keyboard in iOS 27 may offer 'alternative word' suggestions as part of the autocorrect expansion
Recently, in iOS 26.4, Apple made some changes that were said to enhance the accuracy of the iPhone's keyboard.
Now, according to a new Bloomberg report, it seems likely that larger keyboard updates will come with iOS 27.
Mark Gurman writes in Bloomberg:
Apple has been working on an updated system keyboard that expands autocorrect by offering alternative words, they said. This uses an approach similar to tools like Grammarly.
No definitive decision has been made regarding the release of the keyboard tool. The company has been improving the keyboard algorithms in iOS recently and aims to provide a better autocorrect experience.
Some of these functionalities do not seem very different from what iOS currently offers. However, the updated iOS 27 keyboard is expected to be smarter and provide more useful suggestions than the current state.
This information regarding the keyboard update was part of a broader report covering new Siri capabilities, such as the ability to process multiple requests in a single query.
Although it has not been explicitly stated, it seems likely that the new autocorrect feature may rely on some form of Apple Intelligence data. Therefore, it may be limited to AI-capable iPhone models.
iOS 27 will be fully introduced on June 8 at WWDC, and with each new report, it looks like a version filled with artificial intelligence that many users are waiting for.
