Another Apple TV show made it to the Nielsen list of streaming original content in the United States, which is not a definite guarantee considering the relatively small size of the streaming platform.

The second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters ranked 10th with 467 million minutes of viewing during the week of March 2 – March 8.

The entry of Apple TV shows into the prestigious Nielsen list occurred thanks to the success of Pluribus during the holiday season about three months ago.

It is also noteworthy that Monarch did not enter the Nielsen list at all during its first season in 2023; this could indicate an increasing viewership for the Godzilla universe series. Apple has ordered a spinoff story featuring the character Lee Shaw (played by Wyatt Russell) from the show.

It will be interesting to see whether Monarch can stay on the list throughout its second season. Today, Apple released the 6th episode of the second season, and with the season finale set to air on May 1, there are still four more episodes to go.

According to Nielsen, the most-watched TV show during the week of March 2 had the following complete list of original content:

1. Bridgerton (Netflix)
2. The Night Agent (Netflix)
3. The Pitt (HBO Max)
4. Love is Blind (Netflix)
5. Paradise (Hulu)
6. Young Sherlock (Amazon Prime Video)
7. The Dinosaurs (Netflix)
8. The Lincoln Lawyer (Netflix)
9. Veronica Mars (Hulu and Netflix)
10. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (Apple TV)

As always, Netflix dominates most of the list, with Bridgerton coming in first with 1.986 million minutes of viewing.

It is worth noting that Nielsen only estimates the audience numbers in the United States and counts only those watching on television sets (using smart TVs, streaming sticks, etc.). Viewership on mobile devices like international subscribers and smartphones is not included in these figures.

Apple does not share subscriber numbers for Apple TV, which is available in over 100 countries. In an interview last year, Eddy Cue mentioned that the service has “significantly more” than 45 million subscribers worldwide; this figure is frequently mentioned by analysts.
