Microsoft has announced three updates to the Xbox Achievements system currently available for Xbox Insiders. The changes include a redesign of the achievement unlock notifications, a visual indicator for fully completed games, and an option to hide individual games from a user's achievement history on their profile. There is no timeline yet for a broader rollout.
Redesigned Xbox Achievement Notifications and New 100% Completion Highlights
The notification that appears when an achievement is unlocked has been visually refreshed. Updated icons and animations now accompany both standard and rare achievement unlocks. Notifications also reflect the user's custom highlight color. This change is currently available for Xbox Insiders.
Games from which a user has earned all their current Gamerscore are now highlighted in the Achievements list, making it easier to spot fully completed titles at a glance. Microsoft has also introduced new filtering options to separate fully completed games from other titles in the achievements view, including those marked as hidden. This feature is currently available for Xbox Insiders.
Game Hiding Feature Coming at the End of This Month
The ability to hide individual games from the achievement history on a profile is, according to Microsoft, the most requested feature in the update, but it is not yet active. Microsoft announced that this feature will be available for Xbox Insiders within April. Hidden games will not be removed from Gamerscore totals.
Activity in hidden games will continue to be tracked across Xbox. This change affects how the profile appears to other users and does not impact core account data. Microsoft has not yet confirmed when the proposed three changes will be rolled out beyond the Xbox Insiders program.
