Google has announced a new Game Trials feature that allows users to try out paid games before purchasing them. This system enables players to access the full version of a game for free for a limited time. If players decide to purchase the game after the trial period, their progress will be automatically saved, and they can continue from where they left off.

Google states that this feature aims to make it easier for users to discover and purchase premium games.

Users Can Try Paid Games Before Buying

Game Trials will allow players to test paid mobile games without making a prepayment. Instead of watching game videos or reading reviews, users will be able to experience the actual game before deciding whether to buy it.

If a player chooses to purchase the game after the trial period, all saved progress will be automatically transferred. Google announced that this feature will initially be available for certain paid mobile games and that PC support for Google Play Games will come later.

Buy Once, Play on Mobile and PC

Google is also introducing a pricing system for certain paid games called “Buy Once, Play Anywhere”. With this system, purchasing a game from Google Play will provide both the mobile and PC versions, eliminating the need to buy the same game twice.

This feature will initially be available for games like Reigns, OTTTD, and Dungeon Crawler.

Google Play Expands Premium Game Library

This announcement comes alongside Google’s efforts to increase the number of paid games available on the Play Store. Google stated that more independent games will be added to the platform by 2026, including titles like Moonlight Peaks, Sledging Game, and low-budget Repairs.

These games will be playable on mobile devices and Windows PCs through Google Play Games, and player progress will be synchronized across devices via the Gamer Profile system.

New Tools for Google Play Game Communities

Google also highlighted new social and support features within Google Play. The Community Posts feature allows players to ask questions, share tips, and participate in in-game discussions directly within the Play Store. This feature is currently available in English for many games, with plans to add more languages.

Additionally, Google is expanding the Play Games Sidekick feature, which provides AI-generated tips and in-game guidance while playing supported games.

Along with Game Trials, these updates are part of Google’s broader effort to enhance Google Play’s gaming ecosystem for both mobile and PC players.
