iOS 27 will be introduced on June 8, 2026, at WWDC, and while rumors indicate a significant focus on Siri and artificial intelligence, here are three new features and changes expected beyond Siri.
#1: Liquid Glass Slider and Other Interface Updates
Liquid Glass is here to stay. However, that doesn’t mean it will remain exactly the same.
According to rumors, Apple plans to make updates to the Liquid Glass design in iOS 27.
One of the expected changes is a new slider that allows users to adjust the Liquid Glass effect on various interface elements as they wish.
Apple had hoped to release such a slider last year, but it wasn’t ready in time and is now planned for iOS 27. Currently, only a slider for the Lock Screen clock is available.
Bloomberg also reports that some adjustments to the interface will come in iOS 27. Exact details are unknown, but it is quite common for Apple to develop a major new design over time.
#2: Calendar Refresh and Other System App Changes
Last June, Mark Gurman reported that the Apple Calendar app would undergo a major refresh. He wrote:
Apple is working on a revamped Calendar app that will be released across its platforms. It planned to introduce the software this year, but it was delayed and is now slated for the next set of operating systems… iOS 27 and macOS 27
Updates to Apple’s system apps come with each new major operating system release, so iOS 27 will definitely bring these. Besides Calendar, potential changes have also been reported for other apps like Safari and Photos.
#3: iPhone Fold Multitasking Features
While it’s unlikely we will see new multitasking features at WWDC, iOS 27 is expected to add various changes specifically designed for this fall's iPhone Fold.
Mark Gurman writes in Bloomberg:
Apple Inc.'s upcoming foldable iPhone will include updates to the iOS operating system for iPad-like layouts and side-by-side apps for the first time, enhancing the device's appeal for multitasking.
iOS 27 will be made available to the public this September, shortly after the Apple event where the iPhone Fold is expected to be introduced. Therefore, you can expect to see some hints about foldable-related changes at WWDC, but don’t expect to see Apple’s full plans for iOS 27 until that fall event.
