Instagram made a small change worth celebrating: comments can now be edited after they are posted. Here are the details.

Instagram allows users to edit their comments for 15 minutes

Have you ever had to delete an Instagram comment due to a typo and repost it?

Or perhaps you wanted to wait for your anger to subside before softening what you shared and immediately regretted it?

In either case, Instagram has a solution.

You can now edit your comments within 15 minutes after posting them.

Here’s an official announcement from a post on X:

You can now edit Instagram comments 🗣️ make changes within 15 minutes after posting.

A long-awaited change, but a nice one.

Edited comments will indicate that they have been edited. However, the original message will no longer be accessible. This is different from some services like Apple's Messages app, where a complete edit history is recorded.

In other Instagram news, Meta recently announced that it is testing a paid tier that offers several extra benefits. I’m glad that comment edits are not tied to this paid subscription.

Would you like to be able to edit any Instagram comments? Let us know in the comments.
