Apple has already introduced three new Macs this year, but there are four more new Macs expected to be released in the remaining months of the year. Here’s what’s coming.
Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra
The Mac Studio was updated a little over a year ago, and this latest model offers M4 Max and M3 Ultra chips.
Rumors suggest that a new Mac Studio will be released in the coming months with the M5 Max and an entirely new M5 Ultra chip.
No design changes are expected, but with the growth of artificial intelligence and the increasing computational needs, the M5 Ultra model of the Mac Studio could be particularly interesting.
M5 iMac with New Colors
Apple's all-in-one desktop computer, the iMac, will receive an M5 update later this year.
The M4 model was released 18 months ago, and the M5 version is expected to arrive before the two years are up.
Beyond improved performance, the M5 iMac is expected to come with at least one other notable change: a refreshed color palette.
Apple had also added new colors to the M4 iMac, so another fresh color option wouldn’t be surprising. Perhaps the M5 model will adopt some of the color options from the MacBook Neo.
Mac mini with M5 and M5 Pro
The MacBook Neo has been rightly praised for its affordability, but the Mac mini continues to be the most budget-friendly Mac you can buy - at least before adding a screen, keyboard, and mouse or trackpad.
The Mac mini is expected to be updated this year with two chip options:
- M5
- M5 Pro
Like the new Mac Studio, no changes are expected in the exterior design. However, as the Mac mini gains new popularity as a device for OpenClaw and Perplexity's 'Personal Computer', a simple chip upgrade would still be welcomed.
Newly Designed M6 MacBook Pro
Apple recently introduced the MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max, but another MacBook Pro is coming this year.
The M6 MacBook Pro will be a significant step for Mac. Personally, this is the model I have been most excited about for a long time.
Current rumors about new features include:
- thinner and lighter new industrial design
- OLED display
- first touchscreen on a Mac
- Dynamic Island instead of the current notch
- possibly a C2 cellular modem from Apple
While the MacBook Neo brings fresh excitement for new Mac users, the M6 MacBook Pro could be popular among long-time Mac users.
Are you considering upgrading to one of the above M5 or M6 models? Let us know in the comments.
