Shrinking is one of Apple TV's biggest hits, and its third season will end in just a few days. Here’s what co-creator Bill Lawrence suggests we can expect from the show in the future.

This week is the Shrinking season finale

If you think last week's episode of Shrinking was the season finale, you are mistaken... but you are not the only one making this error. This episode was the tenth of the season, so many people like me thought on social media that this was the finale.

Fortunately, that is not the case.

Shrinking's third season was initially planned to have twelve episodes. However, the number of episodes was reduced to eleven to start the season with a special "double" episode.

Therefore, the eleventh and final episode of Shrinking's third season will air on Apple TV Tuesday night.

And if you want even better news, Apple has renewed Shrinking for a fourth season in January.

This week, in a post on Threads, one of the creators of Shrinking, Bill Lawrence, gave us a hint about what we can expect.

According to Lawrence, the third season finale of Shrinking will signal "the end of this story." Looking ahead to the fourth season, he says there will be "a new story" and a new chapter beginning.

"The Season 3 finale and the end of this story is coming next week! Thank you if you’ve watched," Lawrence wrote. "I’m very excited to be making a new story."

It’s no surprise that the fourth season of Shrinking will focus on a new story. Lawrence had previously explained that the show was designed as a three-season story. The first season was about grief, the second season was about forgiveness, and the third season was about moving forward.

In a follow-up post, Lawrence noted that the fourth season of Shrinking will continue with the "same cast" as the current season. Whether this will include everyone in the current cast is still unclear... the third season finale may provide some clues on this matter.
