iOS 26.4 has been released and includes five new features for the Music app. Here are the updates for Apple Music in iOS 26.4.
#1: Playlist Playground
iOS 26.4 uses Apple Intelligence to support a new Playlist Playground feature in Apple Music.
When creating a new playlist in the Music app, you will now see an option to enter a prompt for the AI to automatically generate a playlist. The Music app also offers suggested prompts to help you get started.
You can always manually add and remove songs as you wish and make follow-up requests, but the Playlist Playground provides a practical starting point for new playlists.
#2: New Design for Albums and Playlists
Apple has given albums and playlists a new, full-screen design in iOS 26.4.
The artwork of an album or playlist will now be used to stylize the background of the track list and other user interface elements.
This means that if an album's artwork features a prominent blue color, it is likely that a similar shade of blue will cover the entire screen. Sometimes, complementary colors like a black background are used when the artwork contains white and gray tones.
#3: Ambient Music Widget
Last year, Apple launched a new Ambient Music feature for Control Center. This feature allows you to quickly and easily start playing music that fits one of four moods:
- Relaxation
- Productivity
- Sleep
- Wellness
Now, in iOS 26.4, the same Ambient Music feature is also available through Home Screen widgets. Small and Medium widget options are available.
#4: Adding Songs to Multiple Playlists
iOS 26.4 allows you to easily add a song to multiple playlists at the same time.
When adding to a playlist, there is a new selection button in the bottom right corner. When you tap this, you will be able to select multiple playlists at once.
This is a small change, but it is quite handy when you want to quickly add to several different playlists.
#5: Concert Information
Apple has integrated concert information into the Music app in iOS 26.4.
Artist profiles in the app will now highlight the 'Upcoming Concerts' section when concert information is available. You can scroll down to see all upcoming shows.
When you tap on a specific concert, the app will provide a link to purchase tickets and offer information such as the venue and start time.
