Kuxiu has produced some of my favorite MagSafe battery packs over the years. They were among the first to introduce the semi-solid battery pack; this battery is ultra-efficient and also takes safety into account. Additionally, they offered one of the best features with dual-sided MagSafe magnets that allow for adding more MagSafe accessories on top of the battery. Absolutely a genius. Now, they are introducing the new S4 Semi-Solid Safe MagSafe battery pack, which could be their best product yet. Here’s what you need to know.
Kuxiu S4 MagSafe Battery Pack
There’s a lot to say about this battery pack. It has many technical specifications and features. If you’re looking for a MagSafe battery pack that checks the most boxes possible, this might be just for you. Here’s what they offer:
- 10,000mAh capacity
- Qi2.2 standard, 25W wireless charging support
- 30W wired input and output charging support
- TFT screen for real-time battery monitoring
- Battery health status
- Operating temperature
- Battery level
- Wired and wireless charging, real-time watt values
- Built-in stand
- Made of aluminum and glass
- Weight of 214g
On paper, one of the most advanced MagSafe batteries I’ve used. It can charge two devices at the same time and has enough power to charge your iPad Pro or even your MacBook Neo. However, the standout feature is the new TFT screen. The screen is perfectly hidden in the battery's stand, allowing you to see all the information about the battery instantly. So, how does this translate into real-world experience?
My Experience
The first thing that caught my attention before using the battery was the color. There are black and Cosmic Orange options available. I chose the orange one because I wanted it to match my iPhone, and it looks really great. Kuxiu has perfectly matched the orange color on the iPhone with the battery pack. They first did this with the X40 Turbo chargers and have carried it over to this S4 MagSafe battery pack.
But the real killer feature is the TFT screen. As mentioned above, it’s located where the stand opens and has an oval pill shape design. To be compatible with the pill-shaped screen, they used circular UI elements to display different battery levels, temperatures, etc. The screen provides a total of six different measurements:
- Battery Health out of 100
- Operating temperature
- Battery level
- Wired and wireless watt values
- Battery safety warning
Now, the screen shows only three measurements at a time, but it dynamically adjusts according to the most important information. So, if you are wirelessly charging your phone, it will show battery health, watt value, and temperature. As your charging conditions change, the data on the screen also changes. The entire screen will be taken over only for the battery safety warning. Personally, I couldn't trigger this safety warning, but it’s nice to know that you can act if there’s a problem. Overall, I love these diagnostic screens because they let you see how fast something is charging or how hot it is getting.
My Usage Method
In the application, it works as expected. When you place it on the back of the iPhone, it starts charging immediately. Charging at 25W allows me to get about 50% charge on my iPhone 17 Pro, which only takes 20 minutes. Additionally, there is a low power mode that can be triggered with a button, so you can slowly charge something like AirPods. The magnets are also quite strong. Even on a phone without a case, it can hold firmly while wearing tight pants or trying to drop it. I was also able to use it to charge my iPad Pro and managed to get 30W charging; this is great because the 10,000mAh capacity is enough to charge my iPhone and still has enough left to charge my iPad Pro when needed. Finally, the kickstand is a nice detail. It allows you to support your phone while charging it horizontally, vertically, and even in TV mode. This is great for watching YouTube and eating Chipotle during lunch business meetings.
Kuxiu claims to be the thinnest 10,000mAh semi-solid battery currently available, with a thickness of about 13.5mm. For comparison, an iPhone 17 Pro is 8.75mm thick. I hope they release a 5,000 mAh version to see how thin they can make it!
Pricing, Availability, and Final Thoughts
Kuxiu's new S4 is available today on Kuxiu's website for $84. Black and Cosmic Orange options are available, and the one I have is Orange. This has become my go-to charger that I use on days when I'm away from the office, and I also use it at home. As someone who has a 17 Pro (which has a smaller battery), I end my day with 5-15% battery life. So, when I'm done with work in the office around 6 PM, I love to plug in this battery and spend the rest of the day with it.
If you are looking for a new battery pack or want to upgrade your existing one, this is definitely a sensible choice. It feels well-made and premium, can easily charge your iPhone 17 Pro Max 1.5 times (or more), and has a great screen. Kuxiu also includes a really nice braided USB-C cable in the box, so you can start charging right away.
Let me know what you think. Is this something you would consider using? Are you looking for a new charger? What do you think about adding a screen to your battery technology? Let's discuss below.
