Apple continues to release updates for devices from 2015 onwards

According to Aaron Perris, Apple is releasing the following updates:

  • iPadOS 16.7.15
  • iPadOS 15.8.7

Among the devices that the update is available for are the iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone SE (1st generation), iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPad (5th generation), iPad Pro (9.7 inch), iPad Pro (12.9 inch) (1st generation), and iPad mini 4.

Keeping devices up to date is always important, but it becomes even more critical when Apple releases a new update, as it may contain vital security fixes for older hardware.

Recently, Google and iVerify published a report about hacking tools used to exploit iPhones running iOS 13 to iOS 17.2.1. It is not yet clear whether today's updates are related to the vulnerabilities mentioned in that report, but it is still important to ensure your device is running the latest available version.
