Apple is saving the major Siri update for the introduction of iOS 27 in June, which means that one of the biggest iPhone applications will benefit. A new report details the upcoming Siri features for the Camera, improved Visual Intelligence features, and more.

Siri Mode Coming to Camera App in iOS 27

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reports that Apple is developing a new Siri Camera Mode that will debut as part of iOS 27.

Apple Inc. plans to integrate artificial intelligence more deeply into the iPhone's camera app and will add a new Siri mode alongside standard photo and video options in the upcoming iOS 27 operating system.

Gurman explains that Apple will bring the Visual Intelligence feature—currently linked to the Camera Control button—into the camera app itself; this is being done to make the AI feature more discoverable.

Visual Intelligence is also accessible today through the Control Center.

Apple first added this capability to iPhones with Apple Intelligence, which does not have a Camera Control button. Visual Intelligence may also be linked to the Lock Screen or Action button, but it is not prominently featured in the Camera app in iOS 26.

Gurman describes the Siri mode as an enhanced version of Visual Intelligence. This feature is associated with ChatGPT and Google Visual Search today.

Apple reports that it is "redesigning the experience with a new shutter button similar to the Apple Intelligence logo" in iOS 27.

The Camera Control shortcut for accessing Visual Intelligence will remain, but the integration into the Camera app will showcase this feature to more users.

Visual Intelligence Feature Will Include Updates

The report states that the Siri mode will add to the existing Visual Intelligence features.

For example, iOS 27 will include "the ability to scan the nutritional label on food packaging to save diet information" or the ability to add contact information by scanning information. You can read the latest Bloomberg report in full here.

Today's new details follow Gurman's report yesterday that Apple is planning three new AI-related features within the Photos app.

Apple will update Siri across the system, along with a standalone app and a continuous chatbot-like experience. Siri will also be able to handle multiple actions from a single command.

Earlier this year, Apple signed an agreement with Google to use Gemini models to support personal Siri features and upcoming Apple Intelligence features.

Apple will introduce iOS 27 along with the new Siri on Monday, June 8. This is when Apple will kick off its annual developer conference WWDC, held at Apple Park in Cupertino, California.
