According to Bloomberg, Stan Ng, who has served at Apple for many years, announced his retirement in a post on his LinkedIn profile. Here are the details.
Another Leader Leaves Apple Health Division
Stan Ng was the marketing head for Apple Watch, AirPods, Health, and Smart Home products, and he announced his retirement in a post on LinkedIn.
Ng started at Apple in 1995 as a senior systems engineer and spent the last 31 years there. He later transitioned to product roles for Mac, took on the marketing leadership for iPod, and ultimately managed marketing for iPhone, Apple Watch, and Health. In 2021, Apple’s home initiatives were added to his responsibilities.
In an emotional farewell post, he shared a photo of the sunrise at Apple Park and listed some of the things he did on his last day at the company while listening to U2's "It’s a Beautiful Day" on his iPod.
Ng's retirement is the latest in a wave of departures among senior executives at Apple. In recent months, long-time leaders such as former COO Jeff Williams, design chief Alan Dye, and environment and policy chief Lisa Jackson have also left. This week, AI chief John Giannandrea joined this list.
This situation also highlights the ongoing changes in Apple’s health initiatives. These initiatives were taken over by Eddy Cue as part of a broader restructuring following Williams's retirement. Additionally, Jay Blahnik, the head of Fitness+, a significant figure in Apple’s fitness push over the last decade, is also expected to retire.
According to Bloomberg, Erik Treski, Apple’s global marketing manager for AirPods and Smart Home products, will take on some of Ng’s responsibilities after his retirement, but it remains uncertain how Ng's other responsibilities will be redistributed.
