Microsoft launched a series of updates for Microsoft Teams throughout February, introducing new productivity tools, clearer security signals, and AI-powered meeting summaries.
The changes detailed in the company's monthly update blog are designed to enhance productivity and provide users with a better context when collaborating with people outside the organization.
Now You Can Forward Multiple Messages at Once

One of the most practical additions is the ability to forward multiple messages in a single action.
Users can now select up to five messages from a chat or channel and forward them as a single package message. According to Microsoft, this makes it easier to share decisions, updates, or resources without having to copy and paste them individually while preserving the original order and context.
This feature is designed to simplify communication in busy team environments where information flow is often required.
Gain Security Awareness for External Users

Microsoft also introduced visual badges called Trust Indicators that indicate the status of external users in chats and meetings.
Group chats and meeting chats that include external participants are now labeled as “external” for clarity. External users receive specific designations based on their relationship with the organization:
- Known externally
- Unknown externally
- Guest
- Email verified
- Not verified
The classification is determined automatically. For example, users from recognized domains are marked as “known externally”, while users from outside trusted domains are labeled as “unknown externally”.
Microsoft states that this feature is designed to provide additional context during collaboration and to increase security awareness.
Microsoft Enhanced AI-Powered Meeting Summaries

The February update also enhances AI-generated meeting summaries.
When a screen is shared during a recorded meeting, Teams can now capture key screen visuals and place them alongside the relevant sections of the meeting summary. This adds visual context to the written summary, allowing users to quickly relate decisions to what was presented.
While written notes continue to focus on conversation highlights, they now include visual references that make the summaries more scannable and easier to interpret.
Microsoft is Actively Working to Improve Teams
Microsoft has also introduced new views and customization options aimed at improving how Teams works for different users and workflows. This provides organizations with greater flexibility in how they set up and use the application on a daily basis.
As Teams continues to receive mixed reactions from users, ongoing updates demonstrate Microsoft's focus on enhancing the usability, security clarity, and AI-powered productivity tools of the platform. This indicates a desire to adopt a more flexible approach rather than a static and uniform one.
