Ukrainian police arrested three individuals aged 19, 21, and 22 in Lviv for hacking over 610,000 Roblox accounts between October 2025 and January 2026. It was reported that they sold these accounts for a total of approximately $225,000. The arrests took place after ten searches were conducted in targeted locations, and authorities seized $35,000 in cash along with 37 mobile phones, 11 desktop computers, seven laptops, five tablets, and four USB drives.

The operation was carried out jointly by Lviv regional prosecutors, cyber police, and the Security Service of Ukraine.

The 19-year-old identified as the leader of the group recruited the other two members through gaming forums and coordinated the operation. The group distributed infostealer malware disguised as a game development tool. Victims who downloaded this tool had their Roblox login credentials captured and sent to the attackers.

The stolen accounts were ranked by value based on factors such as inventory rarity, Robux balances, and the presence of limited items that can no longer be obtained through normal means. The group classified at least 357 of the 610,000 seized accounts as high value.

These accounts were sold through a Russian website and closed online communities.

Real Monetary Value of Roblox Accounts and Possible Penalties

Roblox accounts hold value through various factors such as Robux balances, rare limited items that cannot be reacquired, years of gaming progress, unlocks, achievements, and access to premium content. The platform also allows account owners to create and sell assets through Roblox Studio, increasing the commercial value of established accounts.

The three suspects are facing charges of theft under Article 185 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code and unauthorized interference with IT systems under Article 361. Both charges could result in a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are continuing efforts to identify more accomplices and victims associated with the group.
