Discover is informing cardholders about changes regarding how their cards work with Apple Pay. It is stated that two features will end as of June 4. Here are the details.

Despite the loss of these two features, Apple Pay integration will continue

In a notification sent to cardholders, Discover states that support for Linked Account integration and the Rewards and Payment feature within Apple Pay will soon come to an end.

The company expresses its commitment to continue enabling the use of the Discover® Card within Apple Pay®. This means that Discover cards will continue to work normally with Apple Pay for both in-store and online shopping.

However, as of June 4, Discover cardholders will not be able to use reward points to cover their purchases when paying with Apple Pay, and they will also not be able to rely on the Linked Account feature to view account details and reward information within the Wallet app.

The company adds that cardholders can still access account details, rewards, balances, transactions, and payment information through Discover.com, the Discover mobile app, or monthly statements.

The decision to end support for Linked Accounts by Discover was made less than three years after its launch with iOS 17.1. This feature was initially launched in the U.S. with Discover as the first partner and had a soft launch in the UK with major banks such as Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, RBS, Monzo, and Starling.

The email sent to cardholders states that the cancellation of the Linked Account and Rewards with Apple Pay will occur automatically and that this cancellation “will not affect the other terms of your Discover accounts and agreements.”
