In January, we learned that a new mode called SpatialAware will be coming to Philips Hue. As of today, the "more natural and immersive" smart lighting feature has been made available. Two new features are also ready for Philips Hue video doorbell owners.
SpatialAware requires the reorganization of Hue lighting scenes
The new SpatialAware mode is available with the Philips Hue iPhone and iPad app update released today. SpatialAware allows you to "scan the room and the app intelligently distributes the Room Gallery scenes to create a more natural and immersive feel," as mentioned in the latest app release notes.
The lighting scenes need to be updated to support the impressive lighting mode. Initially, half of the existing lighting scenes have been reorganized for SpatialAware.
A new Philips Hue Bridge Pro is required to run SpatialAware lighting scenes. According to the company, scanning a room typically takes less than 10 minutes.
This feature works on both LiDAR and non-LiDAR phones. You can learn more about SpatialAware here.
New Hue video doorbell features have arrived
The latest app update also includes two Hue ecosystem features related to Hue video doorbells:
- You can now receive a simulated video call when someone rings the Hue video doorbell, respond, and check who is at your door.
- You can select pre-recorded responses that will automatically ring when you cannot open the door.
It seems like a great way to see who is at the door hue. Sorry, you didn't want hue-purple.
Anyway, you can download the latest Philips Hue iPhone and iPad app to unlock the new SpatialAware and Hue video doorbell features.
Philips Hue Bridge Pro is sold as a standalone upgrade or as a package with Philips Hue smart lights.
Philips Hue has long been one of the best Apple Home products with Siri control, Home app automations, and more.
