Apple has released a new software update for AirPods Pro 3 users. Here are the details.

The new AirPods Pro 3 software update is now being distributed

Today, Apple launched the new AirPods software, which is the first major update since the release of version 8B39 last month.

Today, the latest AirPods Pro 3 software is 8B40. This update comes ahead of the launch of iOS 26.5 in the coming weeks.

Apple has a webpage containing release notes for AirPods software updates, but the site has not yet been updated for 8B40.

Currently, the software is only available for AirPods Pro 3, but it may soon be distributed for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 as well. For reference, all three models received the 8B39 update last month.

Most AirPods software updates include "Bug fixes and other improvements" according to Apple's release notes, so it is likely that this is the case today as well.

However, we will inform you if there is anything more significant in the update after Apple releases the official notes.

Currently, there is no way to manually trigger the AirPods software installation. However, you can follow Apple's instructions regarding the requirements necessary for downloading and installing the software.

Is your AirPods running the new 8B40 software update? Have you noticed anything different? Let us know in the comments.
