Apple has published a preliminary document regarding the transition from the current Campaign Management API to the new Advertising Platform API. Here are the details.

What is this API used for?

Apple Ads is Apple's advertising platform that allows developers and marketers to promote their apps on the App Store.

Along with the company's web-based interface, Apple Ads offers the Campaign Management API in its current fifth version. This API provides a programmatic way to create, manage, and track campaigns.

However, as noted by Aaron Perris, Apple has confirmed that this API will be shut down on January 26, 2027. This is part of the transition to the new Advertising Platform API, which also encompasses Apple Maps ads.

In a new preview guide titled "Apple Ads Platform API Preview Release Notes," Apple states that the Apple Ads Campaign Management API v5 will be shut down early next year and provides details regarding the transition to the new API:

Apple Ads Campaign Management API v5 will be shut down on January 26, 2027. It is recommended to transition to the Platform API as soon as possible to avoid disruptions and take advantage of enhanced functionality.

Apple adds that with the passing of the deadline, the existing API will completely cease to function, and users will not be able to manage campaigns or access reporting.

The new document provides a comprehensive overview of the transition, offering examples of how the new Platform API differs from the existing Campaign Management API, along with information about new features, expanded capabilities, and updated tools for developers.
