SmartGym announces a major update today that adds new ways to compare workouts over time, customized heart rate zones, new exercises, and more. Here are the details.
The update adds customization, detail, and new exercises
I have been a SmartGym user for years, and I am still amazed at how often the app receives major updates that add many useful, interesting new features.
Today's update is no different. It replaces the view in the Monthly Summary with a Workout Summary that allows users to switch between weekly and monthly views and compare the current period with the previous one.
This way, users can get a better overall picture of their performance, whether in the short term or over longer training periods.
Additionally, the update makes it easier to track how specific exercise groups have progressed over time by adding weekly and monthly comparisons to individual routines.
Another addition in today's update is a new feature that allows users to define their own intervals for more accurate tracking with customized heart rate zones.
According to SmartGym, here are the key points that make this change significant:
An experienced athlete and a novice can have very different thresholds, and a one-size-fits-all calculation does not always tell the whole story. With this update, users can now fully customize their heart rate zones. You can define the exact ranges that fit your fitness level, training style, and goals. This is especially important for users taking medications like beta blockers, as these can significantly lower resting and maximum heart rates.
Today's update also offers a nice level of detail for customized exercises along with secondary muscles. Users utilizing this feature will receive the same level of deep analysis and progress tracking as those using the app's built-in exercises.
Speaking of customized exercises, the app's AI-powered Smart Trainer will treat them like built-in exercises; meaning it can include them in recommended workouts and adapt routines around them over time.
Finally, today's update adds many new exercises to its extensive gallery, complete with “primary and secondary muscles, equipment requirements, step-by-step instructions, and animations.”
SmartGym is available for free download from the App Store and offers a wide range of subscription options.
