Apple has released a new software update for Mac: macOS 26.4.1. You can find out what to expect from the latest version here.

macOS 26.4.1 Arrived a Day After iOS and iPadOS Updates

Yesterday, Apple released minor software updates for both iPhone and iPad: iOS 26.4.1 and iPadOS 26.4.1.

Now, the Mac has also received its update: macOS 26.4.1 is available for all users.

Apple's rather brief release notes are as follows:

This update provides bug fixes for your Mac.

Although the release notes may not be very helpful, it is likely that macOS 26.4.1 includes at least one of the changes that appeared in iOS 26.4.1.

The iPhone update yesterday fixed an iCloud bug that could stop data synchronization; this affected both first-party and third-party applications.

We expect the same fix to be included in today's macOS release. Apple uses the term 'bug fixes' in the plural, so we hope for more fixes and performance improvements.

Another known change in iOS 26.4.1 was the activation of Device Theft Protection on corporate iPhones. However, since this is a feature specific to iPhones, the Mac will not be affected.

And while Apple's release notes mention security content, there were no new security updates in iOS and iPadOS 26.4.1; despite containing the same line. Therefore, it is unlikely that security changes have been made in the new Mac update as well.

Update: Apple has updated the webpage listing corporate-related changes in macOS. The notes detail a fix now available in macOS 26.4.1:

Resolved an issue with joining 802.1X Wi-Fi networks on MacBook Air with M5 and MacBook Pro with M5 Pro or M5 Max while using content filtering extensions.

It seems that both macOS 26.4.1 and iOS 26.4.1 contain targeted fixes for corporate users - but different fixes.
