Adobe's experimental camera app has received a new update that adds initial support for iPads with at least 6GB of RAM and the new iPhone 17e. Here are the details.
Project Indigo Gains 'First iPad Support'
Last June, Adobe announced Project Indigo, an experimental app that promises to offer "a natural image look and a full set of camera controls."
Photos produced by Indigo use computational photography and artificial intelligence to achieve a natural (SLR-like) look. This look is applied when creating JPEG images and is embedded as a render suggestion in raw DNG files (if active). All raw pixels remain unaltered – the look does not change them.
Since then, the company has been working to add new features and improvements based on user feedback and continues to provide support for new devices.
Last October, the company faced issues that prevented it from achieving faster compatibility with the iPhone 17 series; some of these issues were only resolved after Apple released iOS 26.1.
Today, Adobe updated Project Indigo with a host of new features, including:
- New grid view in the film strip. Find your photos more easily. Includes multi-selection for sharing or deletion.
- Transfer multiple photos to the Lightroom mobile app at once using the multi-selection feature in the grid view.
- Filtering photos in the film strip and grid. Choose between All Photos, Indigo Album, and Favorites.
- Option to view the 35mm equivalent focal length for rear cameras. Enable in capture settings.
- Support added for iPhone 17e devices.
Additionally, the app is now compatible with iPads that have at least 6GB of RAM and the iPhone 17e. For reference, this includes 2020 and later iPad Pro models, newer iPad Air models (M1 and later), the latest iPad mini, and the 11th generation iPad.
Adobe notes that today's update provides "initial support" only for iPads and that the app is "not yet optimized for the device."
