iOS 26.4 was released last week and brought three improvements that make the Reminders app's new urgent task feature more useful. Here are the details.

Three Changes for 'Urgent' Reminders with iOS 26.4

When iOS 26.4 was launched last week, some of its biggest changes included new features for Apple Music, the Podcasts app, and CarPlay.

However, the update also brought nice improvements to the alarm feature recently added for urgent tasks in the Reminders app.

The most notable change is the completely new 'Urgent' Smart List.

You will see the new list at the top of the Reminders home screen. This provides a practical center for your most time-sensitive tasks.

iOS 26.2 introduced the ability to mark any reminder as 'Urgent' if it has a deadline. I am a big fan of this new feature because it rings an alarm with a snooze option when the deadline arrives.

Now, every task marked as 'Urgent' can actually be found within the new dedicated Smart List, regardless of the list it was assigned to.

In addition to the new Smart List, iOS 26.4 also brings two new methods for marking a task as 'Urgent'.

  1. Selecting the 'Mark as Urgent' option by long-pressing the task
  2. After tapping the calendar icon from the Quick Toolbar

Previously, the only way to enable the 'Urgent' alarm was to enter the full task detail view and turn on 'Urgent'. But now there are several options available.

These changes offer practical shortcuts so you can use the new Reminders feature from anywhere in the app.
