iOS 26.5 is coming soon, along with new iPhone features. Here is information on when iOS 26.5 will be available to all users.

It has been confirmed that iOS 26.5 will be released in May, likely in the middle of the month

Apple is a company known for its privacy, and sometimes it can really surprise us with new releases. The latest example is the launch of AirPods Max 2, which happened without any prior rumors.

However, especially regarding software, Apple follows a fairly consistent schedule for release dates.

For example, Apple will introduce iOS 27 at WWDC this June and will release it to all users in September; it is following the same schedule as usual.

Small software updates also have predictable patterns. Therefore, it is enough to look at past years to understand when iOS 26.5 will be released.

Apple has already confirmed that iOS 26.5 will come at some point in May; we just need to wait for the exact date.

Here are the x.5 release dates from the last few years:

  • iOS 18.5: Monday, May 12
  • iOS 17.5: Monday, May 13
  • iOS 16.5: Thursday, May 18

As you can see, Apple targets mid-May launches for x.5 software updates.

Based on this pattern, iOS 26.5 is expected to have a mid-May release this year. The week of May 11 seems quite likely, or it could be delayed until the week of May 18.

New features in iOS 26.5

iOS 26.5 has brought several new iPhone features in its beta version.

Apple Maps has a new Unified Places feature that offers suggestions for places to explore. This feature provides recommendations based on trending locations and your previous searches.

The Messages app is getting end-to-end encryption for RCS messaging. It is currently available in the beta version, and although Apple has not officially committed to offering this in the final version of iOS 26.5, it seems quite likely.

We also expect a new Pride wallpaper to come with iOS 26.5.

Both iOS and iPadOS 26.5 offer a practical change when using accessories like Apple’s Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, or Magic Mouse.

Finally, there are also EU-specific updates, such as support for Live Activities by third-party accessories.
