iOS 27, according to a new report, will include many new AI-powered photo editing features. These features will allow you to quickly enhance, expand, and reframe your images.
iOS 27 Will Focus on AI-Powered Photo Editing Features
Bloomberg reports that iOS 27 will refresh the editing interface in the Photos app by adding a new "Apple Intelligence Tools" section. This menu will feature three options that can make changes to a photo in "a few seconds."
The "Expand" option will allow users to "generate additional image content beyond the original frame." The report states, "For example, someone could take a close-up photo of an iconic structure and use this tool to fill in the surrounding landscape." Users can select how much to add by dragging the edges of the photo with their fingers.
The "Enhance" option will automatically improve the quality of an image, including elements like lighting and colors. Finally, the "Reframe" option will allow users to "change the perspective."
However, the development of these new photo editing features has "not gone completely smoothly," the report says. In particular, the Expand and Reframe tools "are not working reliably during internal testing." This situation may lead Apple to "delay or reduce the features based on improvements in their core models."
iOS 27 is expected to be introduced on June 8 at WWDC. In addition to the new photo editing features, the update is reported to include significant improvements to the overall Siri experience. Apple is also focusing on bug fixes and general stability enhancements.
