It is claimed that Apple will release a special iPhone for its 20th anniversary next year, but according to a new report, this will not be an independent model; rather, it will be a completely new design for the iPhone Pro series.
The report states that the 20th anniversary iPhone is not a separate model, but a new design for the Pro series
The iPhone series has undergone significant changes recently. Last year, the iPhone Air replaced the iPhone Plus, and the first iPhone Ultra is coming this fall.
Rumors have long suggested that Apple is preparing a special model for the 20th anniversary in 2027.
This model is expected to have a bezel-less quad-curved display. Additionally, it may have a small camera cutout, but some rumors suggest that Apple aims to completely eliminate all glass cutouts.
Mark Gurman reported in Bloomberg that this would be a special 'Pro' model. However, more recently, Gurman and other reports have portrayed this as a completely separate model.
However, a new report seen by analyst Jeff Pu from 9to5Mac indicates that this 20th anniversary design is actually intended for Apple’s Pro series. From the report:
We expect the launch of the 20th iPhone in the second half of 2027 to shift the focus of innovation to the mainstream iPhone Pro+Max models; these models will feature four-sided rounded display characteristics along with design efforts continuing with the cameras underneath the front.
This aligns with the original report from Bloomberg, which referenced Gurman's statement about a "bold new Pro model with more widespread use of glass."
If Pu is correct, Apple is not planning a special 20th anniversary iPhone model. Instead, a special, completely new design is coming for the 2027 iPhone Pro and Pro Max models.
