OpenAI is launching a revamped $100/month ChatGPT subscription for Codex users. Here’s a comparison with the current OpenAI plans and their contents.

ChatGPT Pro Now More Affordable

OpenAI introduced the Codex Mac application in February, providing developers with new tools for agency coding with artificial intelligence.

The new ChatGPT Pro tier is specifically designed for Codex users who exceed the $20/month ChatGPT Plus tier.

ChatGPT Pro was previously offered only at $200/month.

OpenAI states that the new version includes five times more Codex usage compared to Plus, access to special models, and unlimited access to Instant and Thinking models.

“To celebrate the launch, we are providing Pro $100 subscribers with a tenfold increase in Codex usage on ChatGPT Plus until May 31, allowing you to develop your most ambitious ideas,” says OpenAI.

OpenAI's $200/month Tier Still Available

While OpenAI introduces a more affordable version of the ChatGPT Pro plan, it notes that the $200/month tier is still available for users with greater needs.

This means there are now two versions available. Naming has not been one of the strengths of the ChatGPT company.

To provide clarity, OpenAI made a statement containing some useful information.

First, here are the two Pro tiers:

  • Pro $100 – Designed for real projects. Offers five times higher limits compared to Plus for those using advanced tools and models weekly (and a tenfold increase in Codex usage compared to Plus for a limited time).
  • Pro $200 – For heavy usage. Run your most demanding workflows continuously, even across parallel projects, with 20 times higher limits.

“Both Pro plans include the same core capabilities,” says OpenAI. “The main difference is the usage allowance: Pro $100 offers five times higher usage allowance compared to Plus (and a tenfold increase in Codex usage for a limited time), while Pro $200 offers twenty times the usage allowance compared to Plus.”

Codex Has Over 3 Million Weekly Users

Meanwhile, OpenAI shared some usage data for Codex.

The company states that Codex has over 3 million weekly users. This represents a fivefold increase in three months and a 70% monthly growth.
