Women in Blue is one of Apple TV's Spanish-language series, and following its critically acclaimed first season, the release date for its second season has been announced.
Women in Blue (‘Las Azules’) Season Two Coming This August
Apple TV is continually working to increase the number of its non-English original series.
Notable foreign language series include the manga-inspired Drops of God, the historical epic Pachinko, the French drama Carême, and the medical drama Berlin ER.
The recently released Spanish series Women in Blue (‘Las Azules’) has received strong reviews from both critics and viewers. Now Apple has announced that the series will return this summer.
Women in Blue Season Two will kick off with an episode on Wednesday, August 12, and new episodes will be released weekly until September 30.
The series is inspired by true events and begins with four women joining “Mexico’s first female police force—but they discover that this is a public relations stunt to keep the media away from a serial killer.”
Here’s a summary of the second season, followed by the trailer for the first season:
The second season of “Women in Blue” will revolve around María (Bárbara Mori), who is now promoted to lieutenant. When the body of a student activist is found, María finds herself torn between the rules she swore to uphold and her strong attraction to the truth. The Azules become involved in an investigation that reaches back to the 1968 student massacre. Before they understand what they’ve uncovered, a body is found linked to that brutal historical episode, sending shockwaves through the department. Someone is bringing justice right to the police’s doorstep, and the Azules are the last hope to stop the killer. As María, Valentina (Natalia Téllez), Gabina (Amorita Rasgado), and Ángeles (Ximena Sariñana) fight both inside and outside the precinct, buried truths come to the surface, forcing them to confront a disturbing question: What is the cost of fighting for ideals in a system riddled with corruption?

This summer, Apple is also offering the new season of Ted Lasso, a limited series called Lucky starring Anya Taylor-Joy, the Martin Scorsese-Steven Spielberg thriller Cape Fear, and more.
