Apple CarPlay has recently gained support for AI chatbots, and the third app adding support is coming soon: Grok.

Grok Voice Mode Coming to CarPlay Soon

The latest version of Grok for iPhone includes a placeholder app for Apple CarPlay. Grok’s CarPlay app is not yet functional, but the placeholder app confirms that xAI plans to support Apple’s in-car experience.

Currently, the app starts with a message for users: “Grok Voice Mode is coming to CarPlay soon.” Grok is already a built-in feature in Tesla vehicles. The upcoming CarPlay support will bring the AI chatbot experience to almost every vehicle on the road.

Grok initially started as part of Elon Musk’s xAI company and later incorporated X (formerly known as Twitter) before becoming part of SpaceX.

When Grok Voice Mode arrives on CarPlay, it will be alongside ChatGPT and Perplexity.

Google has yet to show any signs of offering CarPlay support with Gemini, but Google’s Gemini models are expected to power the new Siri in iOS 27 later this year. Apple is also expected to launch a dedicated Siri app that will work with CarPlay.

We hope the X team is also considering CarPlay support for the newly launched XChat app. You can see the best CarPlay apps already available here.

Grok is available on the App Store for iOS.
