Apple has released the public beta 1 version for iPadOS 26.5, watchOS 26.5, and more. Here are the new features you can expect.
Public Beta 1 for iPadOS 26.5, tvOS 26.5, and More Has Arrived
A new public beta cycle for Apple's anticipated 26.5 software updates has begun today.
Currently, public beta versions of iPadOS 26.5, tvOS 26.5, watchOS 26.5, HomePod 26.5, and more are being distributed.
These updates follow the 26.5 developer beta versions released earlier this week and come after the revisions made today for iOS and iPadOS.
So far, early tests have shown that new features in the latest Apple releases are quite minimal.
In iOS and iPadOS 26.5, Apple Maps is adding a new 'Suggested Places' feature. Additionally, there are signs of a new App Store option for in-app subscriptions and some EU-specific features.
Aside from that, today's releases remain minimal in terms of user-facing changes compared to the 26.4 launch versions that came last week.
This can always change as subsequent beta versions are released. It is quite common for Apple to hold back some new features for beta 2 and beta 3 updates.
However, with WWDC 2026 approaching, it is also quite possible that the 26.5 series will remain smaller versions ahead of iOS 27, macOS 27, and more, which will contain many more features.
