Apple has released public beta 1 for iPadOS 26.5, watchOS 26.5, and more. Here’s what to expect.

Public Beta 1 for iPadOS 26.5, tvOS 26.5, and More Has Arrived

A new public beta cycle for Apple’s upcoming 26.5 software updates has started today.

Currently, public beta versions of iPadOS 26.5, tvOS 26.5, watchOS 26.5, HomePod 26.5, and more are being distributed.

These updates come following the related 26.5 developer beta versions released earlier this week and follow the revisions made for iOS and iPadOS today.

In early tests, it seems that the new features in the latest Apple releases are quite minimal.

In iOS and iPadOS 26.5, Apple Maps adds a new ‘Suggested Places’ feature. There’s also a new App Store option for in-app subscriptions and some signs of EU-specific features.

Besides that, today’s releases offer user-facing changes compared to the 26.4 version releases that came last week.

This can always change, as new features may be added when subsequent beta releases are launched. It is quite common for Apple to hold back some new features for beta 2 and beta 3 updates.

However, with WWDC 2026 approaching, it is also quite possible that the 26.5 series remains smaller releases before iOS 27, macOS 27, and more, which will contain many more features.
