On Tuesday, OpenAI announced that it has shut down a video application powered by artificial intelligence called Sora. The iPhone app was launched in September and its six-month existence was as brief and entertaining as the app itself. Apparently, Sora is not the only thing the creators of ChatGPT have closed this month.

OpenAI is not advancing erotic mode in ChatGPT

In October, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced plans to add an erotic mode to ChatGPT. This detail emerged as an additional element to another announcement regarding age verification.

In December, while implementing the age verification system more comprehensively and in line with our principle of "treating adult users like adults," we will allow more, such as erotic content for verified adults.

With the introduction of the Sora app, this situation had moved quite far away from ChatGPT's function as a productivity tool. This statement led Altman to note that OpenAI is "not the world's chosen moral police."

However, the anticipated "Spicy ChatGPT" in the spring did not arrive in December, and on March 6, Alex Heath reported in Sources that the Adult Mode would be paused. Instead, OpenAI would prioritize intelligence gains.

Financial Times later reported that the pause was "indefinite" and that Cristina Criddle cited challenges like "removing sexual datasets and illegal content" as obstacles for OpenAI.

Therefore, March was quite eventful for OpenAI, and some might argue that at least one artificial intelligence disaster has been averted for now.
