Google has launched a new voice note taking application called Google AI Edge Eloquent for iOS. The app transcribes locally using Gemma-based models and offers an optional cloud mode that utilizes Gemini for additional text cleaning.
It is currently available for free on the Apple App Store. An Android version appears to be in development. The App Store listing directly references Android integration, and a Download for Android button briefly appeared on the app's website but was later removed.
Features of Google AI Edge Eloquent Voice Note Taking Application

AI Edge Eloquent provides real-time transcription while the user is speaking. When voice note taking pauses, it automatically removes filler words like um and ah from the transcript. Users can reformat the cleaned text into different output styles such as key points, formal, short, or long.
The app also supports importing a custom vocabulary through a connected Gmail account or manual entry, which helps it accurately recognize names, technical terms, and field-specific jargon. A session history feature tracks the word count per minute and the total number of words spoken in each session.
By default, all processing occurs on the device, and no data is sent externally. Switching to cloud mode routes the transcription through Gemini models for more comprehensive cleaning, which requires an internet connection.
When Google AI Edge Eloquent Might Come to Android
Google has not announced an official release date for Android. The App Store description of the iOS application mentions Android system integration features such as setting Eloquent as the default keyboard in any text field across the system and a floating button to access transcripts from any application.
A Download for Android button briefly appeared on the app's website during the iOS launch period but was later removed. Google has not commented on the timing of the Android version. Currently, Google AI Edge Eloquent is available for free on the Apple App Store.
