When looking for a MagSafe car mount, you may have to make a tough choice right at the beginning of your shopping decisions. Do you prefer a vent mount or a dashboard mount? Vent mounts are a great option because they can be easily moved between vehicles and do not require adhesive on your car's dashboard, but they can sometimes obstruct your airflow. Dashboard mounts offer a more permanent feel, but it can be harder to place them correctly.
Scosche chose to completely skip this debate with the Scosche MagicMount Charge Pro; both options are available in the box. I prefer the vent mount because I love keeping my iPhone cool during summer travels. Ensuring my iPhone stays cool while the air conditioning is on is a great way to cool down my car.

Dashboard or Vent Mount: The Choice is Yours
The 2-in-1 design is the biggest selling point here. The set includes a vent clip and a dashboard suction mount, so you can find out which option works best for your vehicle or easily switch between vehicles. If you frequently use rental cars while traveling or switch between family vehicles, the vent clip is a great option. It’s easy to install and remove, leaving no adhesive residue. If you want something more stable, the dashboard mount uses a strong adhesive that stays in place even on bumpy roads. The magnets are made of rare earth neodymium, which provides a really strong connection with your iPhone.
Qi2 in the Car
Qi2 standardizes fast 15-watt wireless charging for the iPhone, so you get quick charging in the car. This Scosche mount is Qi2 certified, ensuring you get the fastest charging speeds possible for your iPhone, which is twice as fast as the previous 7.5-watt chargers that were the only option before Qi2. However, this speed assumes proper temperature; this brings me back to my earlier comment about the vent mount option.
Scosche has also included a 20-watt USB-C car charger in the box, so you don’t have to worry about whether your car's built-in USB port has enough power for Qi2 (mine doesn’t).
The mount head uses a ball-and-socket system that allows for 360-degree rotation. This is quite handy if you prefer to use Apple Maps in landscape mode or need to tilt your phone to prevent glare on the windshield. It feels sturdy and doesn’t sag over time as long as it’s tight.
Overall Assessment of Scosche MagicMount Charge Pro
The Scosche MagicMount Charge Pro is the product in my car as I prepare for summer vacations and other travels. It brings Qi2 speeds to your vehicle and includes both dashboard and vent mounting hardware as well as a power adapter, making it quite easy to choose a MagSafe car charger for your iPhone.
You can purchase the Scosche MagicMount Charge Pro from Amazon or directly from Scosche.
