The smartphone customization studio Caviar has announced a special version of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max that includes a small piece of a sweater actually worn by Steve Jobs. Here are the details.
A Tribute to Apple’s Legendary First Smartphone
If you have $9,630 in your pocket, Caviar can help you.
The company has unveiled a special series of iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models inspired by the first iPhone and containing (very) small piece of history, named JOBS (source: Macworld).
According to information based on visuals available on the product's website, the device features a black panel paired with a silver titanium body finished with PVD coating, which reinterprets the aesthetic of the first iPhone 2G as a contemporary luxury object.
The black panel also includes a reproduction of Steve Jobs' signature and contains "a small square cut from Jobs' sweater during the presentation of the NeXT computer" inside the Apple logo, this piece is certified.
We checked archival footage of Steve Jobs introducing NeXT Computer on October 12, 1988, and he appears to be wearing a tuxedo at that event.
However, he later transitioned to his signature sweater while at NeXT.
Returning to the device, Caviar decided to produce only 9 special units as a tribute to the launch date; that date is January 9, 2017.
Currently, the company states that only 2 models remain.
The devices come with a specially made wallpaper for these 9 units and are presented in luxurious packaging that includes a "signature Caviar key".
