ChatGPT continues to be the most downloaded app on the App Store, and it seems that OpenAI is about to release a new iPhone app soon.

OpenAI may be planning an iPhone version of the Codex app

OpenAI is making significant investments in the Codex desktop app, and updates are coming almost every day. Today's update includes a new prompt that asks users a question: "What kind of work do you do?"

This feature adjusts Codex's user interface based on the user's response. Options include engineering, product, finance, marketing, sales, operations, data science, design, student, and "other."

This feature comes at a time when OpenAI aims to extend Codex's appeal beyond agency coding. Building within Codex ensures that the ChatGPT app remains more fluid while offering a more capable solution for workflows.

OpenAI may also be planning remote control features for Codex from the ChatGPT app, but bringing Codex to iOS will expand its accessibility beyond desktop.

If Codex is indeed going to be a new iPhone app, it will be OpenAI's third iOS app after Sora. The company discontinued the video production social streaming app in March.

Earlier this month, Codex gained the ability to use applications on Mac without taking over the cursor. This means you can continue to use your machine while performing tasks on your Mac using Codex.

In addition to enhancing the Codex desktop app, OpenAI recently introduced a subscription designed for Codex users. OpenAI also released GPT-5.5, which enhances the capabilities of ChatGPT and Codex, and Images 2 for image generation.

It seems that OpenAI is planning an iPhone app that will serve as a remote control function for Codex on Mac. Here are some hints about the future:

Claude Code offers great remote control but has low rate limits.

Codex has high rate limits but no remote control.

How can I get the best of both worlds???

Getting the best of both worlds doesn't require action on your part – just give us a few days :)
