After just a few days of beta testing, WhatsApp has now made the enhanced CarPlay experience available to all iPhone users. Here are the details.

CarPlay Momentum Continues

A few days ago, WABetaInfo noticed that WhatsApp had started testing the enhanced CarPlay experience.

For years, WhatsApp's CarPlay integration was limited to a basic voice interface that allowed users to send messages or make calls.

With the update introduced as part of the App Store event, WhatsApp's CarPlay experience now feels much more native to Apple's in-car platform and includes:

  • A new contact information interface that allows users to view profile details for each contact;
  • Call history interface that shows recent calls, including incoming, outgoing, or missed calls;
  • Support for favorite contacts through a dedicated tab.

Today's update is an extension of the recent CarPlay improvements that also come with ChatGPT and Google Meet adding more native experiences.

ChatGPT updated its app to take advantage of the new voice app support offered by Apple with CarPlay. At the same time, Google Meet added features like joining meetings and viewing upcoming events.
