Meta is expanding the AI-powered summaries feature in the WhatsApp application to include the context of unread messages across multiple chats. Here are the details.
WhatsApp Expands In-App AI Summaries
WABetaInfo has identified references for a new feature in the latest TestFlight version that allows users to view an AI-powered summary of unread messages across multiple chats.
Currently, the app provides an AI-powered summary of unread messages within each individual chat, and the entire summarization process is managed by WhatsApp’s Private Processing system.
Now, according to WABetaInfo, the app is working on a "combined unread chat summary feature." This feature will add a "Get Summary" button at the top of the Chats tab when the "Unread" filter is selected.
WABetaInfo states:
As you can see from the attached image, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of a feature designed to detail private chat summaries. This feature is currently in development and is expected to be released in a future update, but it already promises to make summarization easier than ever. Currently, users in certain regions can create message summaries by opening a conversation. Here, users can create a brief summary by tapping the "summarize" button. By reading a summary, users can easily understand the main points of a conversation as it condenses multiple messages into a brief overview. Private Processing creates a secure summary of unread messages. Notably, while processing the content to maintain privacy, it also provides a clear overall view of the conversation.
WABetaInfo notes that this feature is being developed for both iOS and Android versions. This may imply that the feature will not take long to be released or at least could be offered to beta test users.
