Apple will introduce iOS 27 and the accompanying software updates at the WWDC event on June 8. A recent Q&A session with Mark Gurman from Bloomberg revealed two major updates coming with watchOS 27.

Apple Focuses on AI Features and Quality Improvements in watchOS 27

Last week, Mark Gurman held a Q&A session where he answered various questions related to Apple. The full transcript is available here.

One question was about Apple’s hardware and software plans for the Apple Watch this year.

Gurman didn’t offer much regarding hardware, only stating that he “doesn’t expect a major redesign this year.”

However, two significant changes regarding watchOS 27 were highlighted.

Gurman said:

I think this year is about integrating more AI features into the software for the watch... In terms of WWDC, what else is there besides AI features? There really isn’t much. So, it’s about getting the software into a good state and telling the AI story.

Therefore, the main improvements in watchOS 27 will be as follows:

  1. AI Features
  2. Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements

Considering this response, it seems that the updates for watchOS 27 will be quite similar to those for iOS 27.

Gurman has reported that Apple has prioritized AI developments and performance for the next major iPhone software version for some time. This is expected to heavily focus on the new and improved Siri, as detailed last week.
