If you are considering purchasing the new MacBook Neo for yourself or a family member, it may be helpful to know the repair costs. Here are the details.
Prices With and Without AppleCare
According to MacMagazine, estimated service costs for the new MacBook Neo are now available.
For users without AppleCare, a fixed fee of $149 is charged for battery service, while other damages require an inspection:
We will inspect your device and determine the final service fee. Estimated fees are for out-of-warranty services from Apple and may be subject to tax. If we need to ship your device, a shipping fee may be added. Apple Authorized Service Providers may set their own service fees and provide their own estimates.
For reference, battery service for the MacBook Air can currently cost up to $199 depending on the model, while for the MacBook Pro, this fee can be up to $249.
For users covered by AppleCare, the MacBook Neo service fees will be significantly lower. Here are the details:
- Battery service: $0
- Screen damage: $49
- Exterior casing damage: $49
- Other accidental damages: $149
Apple warns users that fees may be subject to tax and states, “Your service fee for services covered under the AppleCare plan is the same at Apple and all Apple Authorized Service Providers.”
For users who choose to protect their MacBook Neo with AppleCare+, the plan costs $4.99 monthly or $49.99 annually, making it the cheapest AppleCare+ plan after the Mac mini.
Finally, AppleCare One subscribers can add the new MacBook Neo to their plan if they do not yet have three devices; otherwise, they can add it for an additional $5.99 monthly fee.
In this case, the MacBook Neo will be protected with the same AppleCare+ benefits offered with the AppleCare One plan.
