Apple Vision Pro will provide access to more games than ever before with visionOS. Here’s how you can start using the Steam Link beta version today.
Steam Link is offering a visionOS app for 2D games in beta
There are many questions about the future of Vision Pro, but this device has already proven to be great for media consumption.
Immersive Video is continuously expanding, and with the latest updates, the gaming experience is also improving.
And soon, gamers will discover a new way to use the Vision Pro.
Valve announced that Steam Link will receive a native visionOS app, and the first beta version is now available.
You can join the Steam Link beta version via TestFlight here.
Steam Link is currently available for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. However, when it launches on Apple Vision Pro, you will also be able to access games from your Steam library within visionOS.
From Valve’s announcement post:
This update improves network performance, allows you to stream in 4K resolution, and lets you dynamically adjust the screen tilt in panoramic mode. This client is designed solely for 2D streaming and does not support VR content.
The last sentence is very important. Steam Link on visionOS does not support VR games - at least not for now. It is limited to 2D streaming of games from your Mac or PC.
However, while visionOS continues to be a great way to watch 2D video content, there are still many advantages to using a giant visionOS window to play your favorite game through Steam Link.
