Apple announced that it will close three retail stores in the United States, including locations in Connecticut, Maryland, and California.

Apple is Closing These U.S. Stores

In a statement to MacRumors, Apple confirmed that it will close the following retail stores:

  • Apple Towson Town Center, Towson, Maryland
  • Apple North County, Escondido, California
  • Apple Trumbull, Trumbull, Connecticut

In the statement, Apple cited the reason for the closures as “the departure of many retailers and deteriorating conditions” in the shopping centers where the mentioned stores are located.

At Apple, we continuously strive to provide our customers with exceptional service and great experiences. While we continue to expand and enhance our retail stores globally, we pay close attention to evaluating our existing locations. Due to the departure of many retailers and deteriorating conditions at Trumbull [sic] Shopping Mall, North County Shops, and Towson Town Center, we have made the decision to close our stores at these locations.

Apple stated that the stores will close in June. All three stores are currently listed as “temporarily closed today” on the relevant pages of Apple’s website, but are expected to reopen tomorrow before closing permanently.

Apple noted that employees at the Trumbull and Escondido stores could “continue their roles at nearby Apple Retail stores.” Employees at Apple Towson Town Center will also have “the right to apply for open positions as required by the collective bargaining agreement.”

Apple Towson Town Center became the first unionized Apple Store location in June 2022. The Apple Store union is part of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
