OpenAI announces ChatGPT Images 2, the updated version of its image generation model. The company is also scaling Codex at an enterprise level with the new Codex Labs initiative.
ChatGPT Has Improved in Image and Design Generation
After releasing a teaser this morning, OpenAI announces ChatGPT Images 2, a new image generation model for ChatGPT and Codex.
Before the live stream, OpenAI used this image as a waiting screen:
Like the teaser image from this morning, this is likely another use case for ChatGPT Images 2.
The focus seems to be on text generation, which was one of the weak points of previous ChatGPT image generation models.
Watch the announcement and demo video below:
Key details:
- Images can now reach up to 2K resolution and can be produced in multiple aspect ratios.
- OpenAI states that you can create complete magazines with ChatGPT Images 2.
- Images can use the web to research current information.
- OpenAI indicates that ChatGPT Images 2 is now available.
- Two versions are available: Instant and Thoughtful.
- Language expertise is now expanding to languages outside the Latin alphabet.

Codex is Growing with a New Enterprise Focus
OpenAI has been placing great importance on Codex in recent weeks and aims to make the Mac application an AI "super app" for developers of all kinds.
Last week, Codex for Mac was renewed based on OpenAI's acquisition of Sky Software for agency use, with the addition of a ChatGPT Atlas-based internal browser and built-in image generation.
The company also released a separate feature called Chronicle, which uses AI agents to create better awareness of recent screen content.
Now OpenAI is taking Codex further with a focus on enterprise adoption and a new Codex Labs program.
Teams are using Codex to gather context from different tools, understand what is important, and turn scattered information into useful work – for example, briefings, plans, checklists, drafts, and follow-ups – and then take action. This presents businesses with a greater opportunity to help each team move faster – not just the coding teams.
We want to help more businesses do this.
That’s why we are launching Codex Labs.
Codex Labs helps teams run Codex on real problems by bringing OpenAI experts directly into organizations. Through hands-on workshops and working sessions, enterprise organizations learn where Codex fits, how to integrate it into existing workflows, and how to move from early use to repeatable deployment. The goal is simple: to help businesses realize real value from Codex faster.
Companies looking to scale Codex at an enterprise level can express interest with OpenAI here.
