Microsoft has added two high-profile RPGs to Xbox Game Pass: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Final Fantasy III Pixel Remaster. Both games became available on March 3rd across the Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass tiers.
These additions occurred just hours before Microsoft was expected to announce the Wave 1 list for March 2026.
Xbox Game Pass Offers Two RPGs with Strong Reviews
While stylistically very different, both games are receiving strong critical and user feedback.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 holds an average score of 89 on OpenCritic and has a "Very Positive" rating on Steam based on over 60,000 user reviews.
Final Fantasy III Pixel Remaster has an average score of 82 on OpenCritic and maintains a "Very Positive" Steam rating, albeit from a smaller review pool.
Warhorse Studios' medieval RPG offers a historically inspired open-world experience, while Square Enix's remaster revisits a classic turn-based JRPG with updated visuals and quality-of-life improvements.
Game Pass Maintains Momentum into 2026
With these additions, Xbox Game Pass has added 40 titles since the beginning of 2026 (including titles like Sims). The service has outpaced last year's early growth rate, achieving net gains in game offerings in January and February, even when accounting for removed games.
Square Enix's Pixel Remaster releases have followed a regular monthly cycle so far. Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II arrived in January and February respectively, and it is anticipated that the remaining releases may follow a similar schedule in the coming months.
More Game Pass Announcements Expected from Microsoft
Microsoft typically announces new Game Pass waves on Tuesdays, and a broader announcement for the March list is expected soon. The most recently confirmed upcoming release is Planet of Lana 2, which is scheduled for a first launch day later this week.
However, for RPG fans, March has made a strong start with two critically acclaimed titles now available in the subscription.
