During the Apple Silicon era, MacBooks are more affordable than ever. Nowadays, you can buy a MacBook Air with 512GB storage and 16GB memory directly from Apple for $1099; whereas such a configuration used to cost $1599 a few years ago. Moreover, we should not forget the MacBook Neo, which significantly lowers the entry-level price.
Despite Apple’s price drops, there are many deals you can find with a bit of research.
MacBook Air
Until the launch of the MacBook Neo, the MacBook Air was the entry point into Apple’s laptop lineup. Although the MacBook Neo has somewhat questioned its value proposition, the MacBook Air is still a great laptop for those seeking a better experience.
MagSafe, P3 color display, Center Stage on the webcam, and more battery life are just a few of the standout features of the MacBook Air. Additionally, it comes in a 15-inch size option, unlike the MacBook Neo, which only offers 13 inches.
Currently, you can find these great deals in the MacBook Air series:
- M4 MacBook Air 13 inch: 256GB storage, 16GB memory – $899 on Amazon (100 dollars off)
- M4 MacBook Air 15 inch: 256GB storage, 16GB memory – $1099 on Amazon (100 dollars off)
- M5 MacBook Air 13 inch: 512GB storage, 16GB memory – $949 on Amazon (150 dollars off!)
- M5 MacBook Air 15 inch: 512GB storage, 16GB memory – $1149 on Amazon (150 dollars off!)
- M5 MacBook Air 13 inch: 1TB storage, 16GB memory – $1149 on Amazon (150 dollars off!)
- M5 MacBook Air 15 inch: 1TB storage, 16GB memory – $1349 on Amazon (150 dollars off!)
This isn’t every configuration imaginable; you can find the rest on the relevant Amazon product pages. Currently, you can get a $150 discount on the M5 models, which is quite a good deal considering that the MacBook Air now starts with 512GB storage.
MacBook Neo
This product doesn’t need a long explanation – the MacBook Neo is Apple’s first affordable MacBook and comes in at just $599.
There are some compromises compared to the previous MacBook Air, but it’s still incredibly good for its price. Build quality, screen sharpness, and the macOS experience are essentially offered without compromise. Of course, you have to deal with a slower A18 Pro chip (but trust me, this is not a slow device), fewer ports, and 8GB of memory, but it’s quite reasonable for its price. It also comes in fun colors like Citrus, Blush, and Indigo.
Currently, there are no retail discounts on the MacBook Neo, but if you are a student, you can get a $100 discount from Apple. Otherwise, you can buy one from Amazon:
- MacBook Neo: 256GB storage, 8GB memory – $599 on Amazon
- MacBook Neo: 512GB storage, 8GB memory, Touch ID – $689 on Amazon
Currently, reports indicate that Apple is experiencing significant supply constraints with the MacBook Neo, so these products may run out soon (or experience significant shipping delays). If you want one, you might consider getting it sooner rather than later.
MacBook Pro
At the top of the series is the MacBook Pro. You get the best, but there is one major limitation. Apple is redesigning the high-end variants of the MacBook Pro with OLED, touch screens, and thinner designs later this year.
This redesign will debut only with the M6 Pro and M6 Max chips – so if you’re buying the base model with the M5 chip, you’re still in a safe place to buy a new MacBook today. If you don’t care about the redesign, the M5 Pro and M5 Max are still incredibly new chips.
14 inch MacBook Pro deals:
- MacBook Pro with M5: 1TB storage, 24GB memory – $1799 on Amazon (200 dollars off!)
- MacBook Pro with M4 Pro: 512GB storage, 24GB memory – $1799 on Amazon (200 dollars off!)
- MacBook Pro with M5 Pro: 1TB storage, 24GB memory – $2049 on Amazon (150 dollars off)
16 inch MacBook Pro deals:
- MacBook Pro with M5 Pro: 1TB storage, 24GB memory – $2549 on Amazon (150 dollars off)
- MacBook Pro with M5 Pro: 1TB storage, 48GB memory – $2899 on Amazon (200 dollars off!)
- MacBook Pro with M5 Max: 2TB storage, 36GB memory – $3699 on Amazon (200 dollars off!)
The M4 Pro will perform better than the M5, but it doesn’t have competitive pricing at 14 inches, so choose wisely. For 16 inches, the M4 Pro still comes with a 512GB option, which allows you to save a bit compared to the M5 Pro since the M5 Pro starts with 1TB.
