The season finale of For All Mankind will be released next month, and a new spin-off will also debut on the same day.

Star City is a new space race thriller series set in the same world and alternative history timeline as For All Mankind, but it shows the Soviet side of the story. Friday, May 29 will see the premiere of its first two episodes.

Rhys Ifans (House of the Dragon, Elementary) stars in the lead role, and the series seems to have a faster pace compared to its source material, which has a slower drama feel. Apple describes the new series as a “fast-paced paranoid thriller.”

The newly released trailer confirms this change. You can watch it below.

One great thing about Star City is that it doesn’t require watching For All Mankind. Subscribing for something over five seasons is a significant commitment. However, Star City should be a great entry point that directs viewers to its source of inspiration.
