Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max model is expected to be thicker than the iPhone 17 Pro Max due to the increased depth of the camera module. Vadir Yuryev, a YouTuber from the Max Tech channel, shared some data on the iPhone 18 Pro Max dummy units. Yuryev also compares an iPhone Ultra dummy unit with the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

iPhone 18 Pro Coming with Improved Camera System

According to Yuryev, both the camera module and camera lenses will protrude more on the iPhone 18 Pro Max compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

  • 17 Pro Max camera thickness: 12.92mm
  • 18 Pro Max camera thickness: 13.77mm
  • 17 Pro Max module thickness: 11.23mm
  • 18 Pro Max module thickness: 11.54mm

Apple officially lists the depth for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max as 8.75mm based on the phone's body without measuring the camera system. This is also why the iPhone Air has the thinnest measurements at 5.64 mm.

The increased thickness is expected to stem from the improved camera system in the iPhone 18 Pro series this fall.

At a glance, it may be hard to notice the change in depth, and the iPhone Air series will allow more room between elegance and performance compared to the Pro series.

Apple's first foldable screen iPhone is expected to have the ability to run two iPhone applications side by side. While some rumors suggest that this model may be released later than the iPhone 18 Pro this fall, recent developments indicate that there is no significant delay.
